Now I need to understand which company I should review as a supplier for my Bagging Machine

We all need to look at our budget but look carefully. Whatever machine you buy has to provide a long-term reliable packing function. Like all things in life there is no cheap option. If there appears to be a cheap option, something is not correct.

A bagging machine and line are work horses, if they stop, break down or are working to high failure rates, your plant output is destroyed. So be wise do your homework, this will be a critical purchase. You cannot put an easy fix to make everything correct with a wrong or bad machine.

Firstly, when you contact any packing machine supplier ask for their customer list in the same industry. Too many suppliers may say your product is the same as another industry product so not a problem with our machine. Beware this may be true but may also turn out to be false. If you are unsure contact us [email protected] we will ensure you only review suitable machines.

The chosen suppliers should all ask for the data I have stated in my previous insights of the bagging machine journey. Materials to be packed all data, plant capacity today and future, the bag type, who will supply the bags and a bag sample. These are the least items that you should be asked, check back at my previous insight articles an ensure you are fully armed with information.

If your potential bagging supplier is unhappy with your bag quality, listen to them. The best machines will fail to deliver with poor quality bags. Bag quality is another subject alone.

Get yourself a large number of bags you are proposing to use on a new bagging machine and insist packing of trials at the suppliers. Remember at a trial your product will have settled; air will have escaped from the product so the trial will never be the same as packing product on your plant.

Watch how the total bag is controlled from the empty pick up, to the connection with the filling spot or head, how dust free is the fill. After the bag is filled how is it controlled if it has to move to a sealing station. It is critical the machine controls the bag fully until you have a sealed bag. If it is a valve sack not sealed, is there a lot of spillage from the valve as the bag is dropped to the discharge belt. After the bag leaves the filling spout do you notice any product dropping out of the spout before the next empty bag is placed.

All spillages make the plant and your bag appearance look poor to the customer.

Without such trials and a note of “we do not have a trail machine, but you can trust it will be OK” you are potentially in a very dangerous place. Your decision making is missing an important piece of evidence.

Price, never be interested in price until all trials have been conducted. Then you can review the cost vs performance of every machine. You can compare the risk factors, noted bag reject rates, excess spillage, accuracy of weighing, speed of machine etc.

Good look with your choice. Need help talk to us via our Contact page.
